Griddle

GRIDDLE, CABALLERO! THE BEST IN HOLLYWOOD
I am always taken a back by the flavor balance in this burrito, it may be the best I have ever tasted, loaded with diced hash browns, cheddar cheese, eggs, green chili's and chicken chorizo this burrito brings a flavor mix that has no equal.  Don't get me wrong at first the purist in me said no way this burrito will be good, then I took my first bite, and all my doubts disappeared along with the burrito.

Its at this point that I realized the insides of this burrito make up what I can only call a southwestern breakfast loaf. ingredients all mixing together in a tightly packed, moist, super delicious collective.  In my opinion the star of this loaf is the green chili, adding a surprising flavor and making the burrito moist, if not for that green chili the burrito may succumb to dryness.

In some way I feel like this burrito is the Thelonious Monk of Griddle choices.  Everyone is enamored by the established items while this unwavering genius is playing every note perfectly In his own special way, and its only a matter of time before he blows up...alright that may be an overreach.  In a less hyperbolic way I promise if you order this burrito in addition to your Griddle usual you will not be disappointed.

Enjoy!

Lucy's

LUCY'S: THE HIGH POTENTIAL BURRITO
Lucy's, I called this the high potential burrito because it's so close to being great.  The burrito is filled with a well scrambled mix of chorizo and eggs.  I wish I could say there was more, but that was it.  The clear consensus was that if cheese and hash brown was added this would be a great burrito, at this point though the burrito is a little dry.  So my recommendation is tentative, if you ask them to add cheese and some hash browns I promise you will be satisfied, like so many things in life this one is a work in progress.

Enjoy!

THE B&B CAFE

B&B CAFE, MY DREAM BURRITO
To say I love this burrito would be an understatement.  In high school I invented an independent study class for the soul purpose of having free mornings to enjoy it. Every burrito i eat is compared to it, like an elusive first love; if that first love were filled with bacon, eggs, hash-browns, lovingly wrapped in a tortilla and smothered with green chili.

So when I was back home a few months ago I had to make a pilgrimage to my personal breakfast burrito Mecca, the B&B Cafe. Green Chili is the star in this burrito,   a simple medium thick chili, made especially for the burritos it adds an extra dimension that brings this burrito to the ethereal plane it occupies in my mind.  Inside the burrito is a simple layering of perfection,  shredded hash brown potato's, eggs, cheddar cheese and your choice of bacon, sausage, or chorizo.

If your not feeling like your up to the full burrito ask for a half, if your a fat man trapped in a pudgy mans body like me, add one of the B's delicious cinnamon rolls to top off one of the best breakfast experiences around. I know this is a big post but I can't hide it, it was my first breakfast burrito, and is still my favorite.

Enjoy!

Papoos

PAPOOS, THE DESTROYER.
Papoos, This is a solid burrito that is big on portions.  I have to admit the first time I had this burrito I was not a fan, but a co-worker at the time convinced me to give it second chance.  The second experience won me over, I wouldn't put this up there with the best in Burbank, but I would say if you are looking for a big meal that is cheap and tastes good Papoos breakfast burrito is for you.

Sadly this post is being made post mortem, Papoos is no longer with us.

Toms #7

TOMS #7 THE BEST IN BURBANK
Toms #7, if there was an award for the fattiest greasiest and most delicious breakfast burrito in SoCal then Toms would easily be the winner.  It has all the staples of an artery clogging adventure, chorizo so fatty the grease soaks the tortilla, cheese so plentiful it will bring you to your knees, and the most important piece to this puzzle shredded flat top hash browns cooked to a crisp and loaded generously on top of all the rest.  If you are in Burbank and have some calories to spare I highly recommend this burrito.

Lardon

LARDON, THE NOMAD.
Lardon, I wasn't traditionally a fan of portable breakfast burritos, being that I am from Colorado, and enjoy my burrito covered in fresh pork green chili, but since moving to California I have learned to appreciate the functionality of a burrito on the go.

That is why today I am reviewing the Lardon truck and their bacon breakfast burrito, with an almost Bauhaus like aesthetic of function over form, this burrito is sure to satisfy your on the go breakfast burrito craving.  Filled to the brim with Lardon's delicious bacon, homestyle potato's, fluffy scrambled egg and cheddar cheese, but of course the only thing that really matters in this burrito is the bacon!  If you are on the go and need a fix check out the Lardon trucks info below.  Enjoy!

Tacos Por Favor

THE BEST IN SANTA MONICA.

Tacos Por Favor, chorizo breakfast burrito is the best in Santa Monica.  It's filled with fresh made chorizo, scrambled eggs, cheese, homestyle potato's, and a small amount of salsa.  The chorizo makes the burrito, it's lean and flavorful, with only a hint of spice.  Simply said, it is the best!  If you feel so inclined and are in the area I promise this burrito will not disappoint.
